Consulting Work

Vicky Brown's Leederville WA

Nicky called me halfway through building her dream bar.The venue had been designed by people who understood hospitality equipment but had very little understanding of how a small bar actually operates day to day. The result was an expensive design, unnecessary equipment costs and no clear operational systems.I helped get the project back on track. We simplified the design, sourced suppliers, built the operational systems, installed the POS, recruited staff and created a custom Airtable platform that became the operational brain of the business. The venue opened successfully and continues to trade today.Nicky has told me many times that if we had met earlier in the project, she would have saved hundreds of thousands of dollars.Services provided: Venue setup • Systems design • Airtable development • POS installation • Supplier sourcing • Recruitment support • Staff training

The bar is only the centre of the business.Around it sits the knowledge, systems, training and operational structure that allow great hospitality to happen consistently. The visible part is the service. The invisible part is everything that supports it.

Tourism WA Training

For many international students, my sessions are their first exposure to Australian hospitality.Students attend from across Asia, Europe, North and South America, often while completing university degrees, postgraduate studies and professional qualifications. While practical hospitality skills are part of the training, the broader objective is to inspire people about the opportunities within the industry and demonstrate the professionalism required to operate successful hospitality businesses.Every session represents an opportunity to showcase Australian hospitality to future leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals from around the world.
